Jeffrey Johnson

Jeffrey Dale Johnson was born on Dec. 4, 1949, in Iowa City, and raised in Cherokee, a place that remained close to his heart and where many happy memories were made throughout his life. Following high school, he moved to Phoenix, Ariz., to escape the cold winters and built a life centered on family and lasting friendships.

Jeff spent over 50 years working in real estate, a profession well-suited to his natural ability to connect with people. He was an avid golfer, a huge and incredibly knowledgeable sports fan, especially when it came to football, and a devoted dog lover. But above all else, Jeff’s greatest passion was his family.

He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, showing up in all the ways that mattered most. Jeff had the biggest heart and the best sense of humor, and was often a bit of a troublemaker (the fun kind), always keeping everyone on their toes and laughing. He made any situation more fun just by being there, and provided comfort and advice during hard times.

Jeff passed away at the age of 76 on Dec. 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones until the very end.

He is survived by his wife Marlene; his son Jeffrey (JP) and daughter-in-law Natalie; his daughters, Natalie and Emily, and future son-in-law Hosea. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren Jay, Josephine and Georgia, who were the absolute joy of his life, and by Cindy, the mother of his son JP, with whom he shared a lasting and meaningful relationship.

A celebration of his life will be held in Cherokee, his favorite place, during the Sioux Valley Golf Tournament in 2026.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Arizona Golden Rescue (www.arizonagoldenrescue.org/), Arizona Small Dog Rescue (https://azsmalldog.org/), or a local dog rescue of your choosing in his honor.
