Joe Louis Casillas, 61, of Marcus passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

A come and go Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Marcus. Following visitation, Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion F.I. Goodburn Post 517 of Marcus. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

Joe Louis Casillas, the son of Raymond and Benita (Aguilar) Casillas, was born March 14, 1964, in Odessa, Texas. His childhood years were spent in Bakersfield, Calif., where he attended school. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He courageously served during two tours in Iraq and one in Fallujah. He was honorably discharged and retired from the military after 28 years of service.

On March 19, 1994, Joe was united in marriage to Christine Collins in Sioux City. They resided in Marcus where he enjoyed woodworking, target shooting and taking care of his cat. Most of all, he loved the time spent with family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his first wife Kathleen; one brother, Pablo; and one sister, Terry.

He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Christine Casillas; children: Ren Casillas, Niki Casillas, Chase Casillas, Lance Casillas, Brandi Casillas-Dunham, Rachel Bruneau, Hope Bruneau and Jeremy Corbett; grandchildren: Alex, Jozalyn, Ian, Vicki, Jairo, Christopher, Marissa, Jazzmine, Julia, Jessica, Octavian, Ryette, Serenity, Aubrey, Kayden and Sophia; five great-grandchildren; and siblings: Johnny, Linda, Christy and Oscar.
