Joseph “Joe” Paul Dreckman, 65, of Marcus passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., due to injuries sustained from a fall.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Jan. 22, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Burial will be at a later date. Services were entrusted to Fisch Funeral Funeral Home & Monument in Marcus. Condolences may be left online at www.fischfh.com.
Joe was born on April 1, 1960, in Le Mars the son of Jim and Eleanor (Schwarz) Dreckman. He was raised in Marcus and received his education from Marcus High School. He then attended NCC in Sheldon for auto mechanics. Over the years he worked at K-Products, MercyOne Hospital and finished his career at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, where he retired on Feb. 28, 2025. He continued to be the local handyman in the area where he enjoyed doing numerous jobs for people around Marcus.
On Nov. 14, 1992, he married Gloria Medick at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus.
Joe was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He loved riding his trike motorcycle with Gloria and especially spending time with his family. He loved his Mt. Dew, peanut M & M’s and chocolate covered almonds. He also enjoyed playing Dummy Rummy.
Joe is survived by his wife Gloria of Marcus; his children: Heather (Jeff) Fox of Marcus; Jason Brees of Meriden; Heidi Dreckman (Mike) of Le Mars; Holly (Jaek) Runner of Papillion, Neb.; his grandchildren: Lexi, Brayden, Jaxon, Jenna and Jordan; his mother Eleanor Dreckman of Marcus; his siblings: Len Dreckman of Marcus; Rick (Sue) Dreckman of Kansas City, Mo.; Steve (Stacy) Dreckman of Marcus; Patty Fasteson of Middletown, Del.; Doug (Barb) Dreckman of Marcus; Tim (Lori) Dreckman of Marcus; Donna Dreckman of Marcus; Bryan Dreckman of Virginia Beach, Va.; Cheryl (Phil) Carter of Waverly, Neb.; Monte (Darcy) Dreckman of Marcus; and Bruce (Danae) Dreckman of Marcus; sisters-in-law: Margaret Jellings of Waterloo; Sharon Watts of Cherokee; Norma (Phil) Bush of Cleghorn; Deb Medick of Cherokee; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad Jim Dreckman; his grandson Trevor Boldra; parents-in-law, Norman and Colleen Medick; brothers-in-law, Harold Medick and Larry Watts; nephew Cole Runyan; and great-nephew Keatan Dreckman.
