Tracy Dean Coombs, 47, of Cherokee passed away suddenly while working on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025.
Visitation with the family present will take place on Friday, Aug. 22, from 5-7 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 7 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Mark Leeds will officiate.

Tracy was born on July 10, 1978, in Iowa City to Dwight and Caroline (Joines) Coombs. He attended Cherokee schools.
He worked in several construction companies. He worked at Tyson’s, D.C. Taylor Construction, Mongan Painting and his most recent employer was Schoon's Construction. He was known to do it right the first time, so you don’t have to do it over.
Tracy loved spending time with his family and friends, threw darts in dart league, enjoyed bowling leagues with his grandparents and family members, and golfing with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Dwight Coombs; uncle Dana Coombs; grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Dan Coombs; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Luhman; and his great-grandparents.
Tracy will be lovingly remembered and missed by his mother Caroline (Gary) Luhman of Cherokee; siblings: Justin Coombs (Megan Heubrock) of Cleghorn; Brandi Coombs of Norfolk, Va.; and Tabitha (Jose) Girard of Mitchell, S.D.; nieces and nephews: Cambree, Alpha, Nariah, Kayston, Axel, Brook, Kaleigh, Macey, Colton and Brynleigh; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Joines; close cousin Mekayla Klein; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
